Creatives don’t ignore offsite backup!

Offsite Backup – who’s got your back?

In this post I’d like to demonstrate how simple, affordable & important a worry free offsite backup solution is to a creative business.

First of all simple math:

Creatives bill out on average at $55 – $75/hr.

During the course of the day we generate valuable data backed up for free locally to Time Machine – no worries right?

If you’re like me your TM backup is local,  parked adjacent to your Mac or attached to your Airport Extreme. Don’t get me wrong Time Machine is brilliant & I depend on it daily – it’s the additional bit of safety that we shouldn’t ignore offsite.

Here’s my recommendation, as I mentioned earlier in regards to billing rate, I’d venture to say that less than two hours of your hard-earned money will pay for 2 years of worry free offsite backup!  That’s what I thought too – It’s a call to action.

I pulled a link for you check out here Backblaze  the initial b/u will take several days  but you’ll be glad you did! Subsequent backups are much quicker similar to TM – obviously your internet speed is variable to consider. (Hint: don’t use the default 1 Thread it will take months use 6 Threads – trial & error taught me that lesson)

Put your backup on cruise control!

I’d like to conclude by saying I’m using Backblaze because my brilliant Web Dev guy Adam Christianson recommended it.  If you happen to use the link above you’ll be giving credit where credit is due…it’s worth about $2.00 (one month of free service) but that’s not the point – it’s about sharing important resources & information.

Keep collaborating friends & colleagues!
